While ubiquitous on the home automation scene, finding smart plugs that work with Apple HomeKit is another story. Amazon completely avoids them. So does TP-Link. Same for the number of off-brand choices you can find online. But in a not-so-crowded field, we still found some winners. Above you will find a handy chart listing the best Apple HomeKit smart plugs available. Below is a brief description of each to help you in your decision. Order is based on which one we like most.
Breakdown
Belkin Wemo Mini
After adding Apple HomeKit compatibility to an already impressive smart plug, the Wemo Mini is now the cream of the crop. The simple design avoids covering the adjacent outlet and blends in well to any background. It sits near the top in performance by rarely having connectivity issues. The Wemo App has improved dramatically over the past few years.
Besides Siri, Wemo has voice controls through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Nest and IFTTT functionality exists too. Belkin offers an option with energy monitoring for $10 more. iDevices Switch
This is a really nice smart plug that integrates seamlessly with HomeKit. It is consistently priced under $30 and requires no hub. The iDevices Switch is a little bulkier than the Wemo Mini, yet doesn’t block the sister outlet. The socket sits on the side as well. But what separates iDevices from the rest are some terrific design choices.
A thin LED strip on the face acts as a customizable nightlight. This can be controlled as a separate device in Apple Home. You can change the color, brightness, and even set it on a schedule. The Switch offers energy monitoring too which is rare at this price point. There are some issues with Alexa connectivity, but you’re likely not here for that.

Elgato Eve Energy
The Eve Energy is unique in that it connects via Bluetooth. That means you’ll need a HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad nearby to control it remotely. If you do, it performs incredibly well. Bluetooth can be really smooth in the right conditions.
Energy monitoring is extensive and uses one of the best interfaces out there. It’s a plug and power meter rolled into one. If you need a change of pace from Apple Home, the Eve App is tremendous and works with your other HomeKit-enabled devices. The only knock might be with the design. While it doesn’t block the adjacent outlet, you can’t stack two Eve Energy devices together.
So why isn’t such a great product higher on the list? Price. It is almost double most of its competitors. Part of that is due to some additional features they don’t have, but it is still tough to justify a $50 smart plug. As we mentioned in our review of the Eve Energy, this is the best HomeKit plug money can buy.
iHome iSP6X
The iSP6X is the Jekyll & Hyde of smart home gadgets. When using it with Apple HomeKit, it works great. Connects seamlessly and performs admirably through the Home app. The minimal design does not block the other outlet and looks attractive.
Anything off that set up is trouble. Their a iHome app is poor and best to be avoided. And it doesn’t play nice with Alexa, Google Home, or Android phones. If your household is 100% down with Apple, this is a really good smart plug. There are just a few others at this price point that are better. Koogeek Smart Plug
While Koogeek is not a household name, they’ve put together some nice smart home products. Like their light switch, their smart plug is a no-frills device. Set up is painless and it connects to your existing wireless network (2.4GHz only).
The plug is bulky and does block the second outlet. It does have energy monitoring capability although it isn’t terribly detailed. Overall, this is a perfectly acceptable option. Unfortunately for Koogeek, there are other companies that do it better for the same price. My recommendation is to look for this on sale.
